About Me

I’m FIDE Master Nate Solon. I was national chess champion for the United States in eighth and ninth grade.

I used the strategies and techniques I learned from chess to make a living as a poker pro for seven years. In 2019 I quit poker to accept a position as a data scientist. Since 2022 I’ve been focused on chess coaching and content, and the dad life.

I’ve always been interested in chess as a laboratory for examining how our minds work. I combine my experiences from chess, poker, and data science to find uniquely effective ways to think about chess and learning.
