Great piece Nate, as an Eagles fans, I heard a few people grumbling about the 2 point conversion decision and it surprised me. Could not articulate as well as you why it is correct.

As a Bears fan, I loved getting the info early on the failed 2 point try so I could relax the last 3 minutes of the game! I do wonder if my generation of sports fan (I'm 61) will be the last to bitch about analytics. As we know, there are many hidebound traditions in sports that don't make sense. Like bunting with runners on first and second with nobody out...ugh.

Nate, always love when you test the waters outside the chess world a bit, more sports posts please! 'Chess style' practical decision making applied to the outside of chess world, is always fun, and I feel like chess players do a much better job of applying it the outside world than non chess players, despite media's attempts :)

lol I think you might be the only one, but I’ll keep doing it! American football is especially enthralling for my European readers.

Accepting possibility of failure is real problem I experienced at recent OTB tournament. I was playing well but couldn't force myself to fight in second and third round of 7-round Swiss. I was in even middlegames in both games and accepted early draw offers from opponents. Scared of defeat, of making blunder in unknown waters, of embarrassment.

I always knew I wasn't normal, but I would absolutely jump at the chance to get crushed by a master in a real-life simul.
